Keywords: the form of speech acts, meanings, functions In communication, at least two parties are needed, which are the first party as the speaker and the second party as the speech partner. Speech acts is a communication process involving the speaker and the partner, in the process of marriage communication, those two are involved. This study will be focusing on illocutionary speech acts in the process of traditional communicating in "Minang" marriages in Manokwari. The objectives of the study were (a) to describe the form of illocutionary speech acts in the "Minang" marriage tradition in Manokwari, (b) describe the meaning contained in the tradition of "Minang" Marriages in Manokwari and (c) describe the functions contained in the “Minang" marriage tradition in Manokwari This research uses descriptive qualitative method, where descriptive is written or oral words from the individual and the behavior as a whole. Whereas descriptive qualitative is the kind of research that contains data excerpts to give an overview of the data to be studied. The Datas that are collected in descriptive research is in the form of utterances spoken in the tradition of "Minang" which will show the idea of illocutionary speech acts. The data sources of this research are the speech acts carried out at the marriage of three married couples whos marriages were using the tradition of "Minang". The technique of collecting data here is using an observation techniques, recording techniques and documentation techniques. The procedure for collecting data in this study are, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions or verification. The results of the research shows that judging from the form of illocutionary speech acts in the "Minang" marriage tradition in Manokwari, there are three forms of illocutionary speech acts, namely assertive, directive and expressive. The meanings contained in illocutionary speech acts are denotative meaning (true meaning). Then the function of illocutionary speech acts in the "Minang" marriage tradition in Manokwari has competitive functions, convival functions and collaborative functions
